FAQs
What is a parent coach?
A parent coach is a trained, experienced guide for you and your family. They provide you with information and individualized tools to help make parenting less overwhelming and transitional time more joyful and less stressful.
Is parent coaching the same as therapy?
Parent coaching focuses on providing practical strategies and guidance for improving family dynamics, communication, and parenting skills, often addressing specific challenges. Therapy delves deeper into past traumas or mental health concerns with a more therapeutic lens. Coaching is typically forward-focused, while therapy addresses both past and present. Coaching is not therapy.
What is the difference between what you do and a college coach/counselor/mentor?
As a parent coach, my focus is on supporting the parents in their emotional journey as their child transitions to college. I help parents navigate their feelings, understand and manage emotions, and provide strategies for self-regulation during this significant life change. In contrast, a college coach assists the student in practical aspects like college all aspects of the application and admissions process, coursework, scholarship opportunities and academic prep work for college.
If you are looking for a referral for a college coach/counselor/mentor, send me a message, I have a wonderful colleague who can support you and your child with that!
Why work with a parent coach?
Parenting is wonderful and hard! Even if you’ve read all the books, downloaded all the podcasts, and followed all the influencers and gurus, there is no magic fix and fit for every parent. Each parenting story and journey is unique. A parent coach can meet you where you are and provide individualized support so you can feel more confident and calm an who you are as a parent.
How does the coaching session work?
We’ll meet 1:1 on Zoom so you can get the support you need anytime anywhere. Regular sessions are 60 minutes. I am here to listen without judgment so you can feel safe sharing your questions, concerns, and anything else that is on your mind. Together we will come up with strategies to help you feel more joyful in this parenting phase and less overwhelmed. Parents have shared that they have felt reassured and calmer even after one session. Coaching sessions are neither on the quarter or semester system – you deserve to take the time you need to meet your needs!
How much does coaching cost?
After your complimentary call, if we are a good fit and you would like to continue getting the support you deserve, sessions are $250 for 2 calls per month (typically ever other week) or $399 for 4 calls per month (typically once a week). Coaching will continue for as long as you want and need support.
Do you take insurance?
No, coaching is not covered under any insurance plan at this time.
